Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

The DSC or combined DSC/TGA are thermal analyses that allow us to recover important parameters from polymers such as glass transition temperature, melting temperature and crystallization temperature. It is a technique of choice for the identification of polymers in a complex sample but also for stability analyses. We have a lot of possibilities as we have a cooling unit and an automated gas switch for changing the atmosphere of analysis (N2, air, O2). The thermal analysis allows us to record the mass variation when the temperature changes over time. TGA provides information about physical phenomena such as absorption, desorption adsorption, but also chemical information such as chemisorption, thermal decomposition or oxidation reduction. TGA and DSC analysis can be used in combination in our lab.
